KRUTI SARAIYA

psychotherapist

Hi, I’m Kruti, a psychotherapist living between Mumbai and Goa.

My work is based on the idea that therapy is a way of understanding ourselves more deeply. Not just something we turn to when we are in crisis, but a way of developing a more honest relationship with ourselves, so that we can move through our lives with greater awareness, agency and ease.

My training is grounded in Processwork, supported by explorations in narrative practices, expressive arts, psychoanalysis, as well as trauma-informed and decolonial approaches.

Rather than working from one therapeutic model, I draw on different approaches depending on what feels relevant to the person and what is happening in the moment. I pay attention to the stories and patterns that shape our lives, what is happening in the present moment, and how our relationships and surroundings influence our experience. Sometimes words don't quite get us where we need to go. I often draw on creativity, movement, dreams and other forms of expression to find a way into what may be happening.

The intention is not to fit your experience into a particular framework, but to stay curious about what is emerging and find ways of working with it that feel meaningful to you.

Ultimately, I want the work to leave you with more of your own resources: a deeper understanding of yourself, greater confidence in your choices, and a stronger sense of your own ability to navigate life.

  • individuals

I work with teenagers and adults across a range of experiences, from anxiety, relationship difficulties, family dynamics and life transitions to periods of significant distress or crisis.

You may be dealing with something specific, feeling stuck in a pattern, facing a difficult decision, or simply have a sense that something isn't working and want to understand why. You don't need to come with a clearly defined problem. Sometimes knowing that you want things to be different is enough of a place to begin.

    couples

I work with couples who want to understand what is happening in their relationship, whether they are working through a particular difficulty, navigating a significant decision or trying to find a different way of relating to each other.

    groups

I design and facilitate workshops for small groups and organisations, around a particular need or question. These might focus on group dynamics, communication, rank and power, leadership, or another area the group wants to explore. Each workshop is developed specifically for the group and the context they are working in.

I particularly enjoy working with people who are curious about themselves, open to change and willing to experiment with new possibilities.

  • There is no fixed script for how a session should go. Sessions can look quite different depending on what is happening in your life. We might explore a relationship, work through a difficult decision, unpack something that keeps repeating, or simply try to make sense of something that doesn't quite make sense yet.

I bring warmth, directness and a certain amount of irreverence to the work. We might connect a few dots, question a story you have been telling yourself, look at something from another angle or work out what you actually want to do about it. At times, this can feel challenging; at others, reflective, surprising or even fun.

I also believe therapy should have a place in your life beyond the hour we spend together. Often, we'll find something to take into the week: something to notice and record, something to make with your hands, or a concrete step towards a goal.

I don't think you need to tidy yourself up before coming into the room. There is room for the complicated, awkward, contradictory and occasionally ridiculous parts of being human.

  • I work with clients both in India and abroad. Individual and couples sessions take place online, while group workshops can be conducted online or in person.

    discovery call

I offer a 30-minute discovery call before we begin working together. The purpose is to get a sense of whether we are the right fit for each other. Finding the right therapist isn't simply about qualifications or approach; it is also about whether you feel comfortable enough to do this work together.

You can tell me a little about what brings you to therapy, ask me anything you are curious about and get a sense of how I work. This can include questions about therapy, how I work or even something more personal. Nothing is too silly or off the table.

    sessions

Individual sessions are one hour long and take place online via video call, allowing us to work face-to-face.

Couples sessions are 1.5 hours long and also take place online via video call.

I recommend an initial commitment of eight sessions. This gives us time to establish the work, move beyond the immediate concern and begin to explore what lies underneath it.

I work Monday to Friday, with flexible hours to accommodate different schedules and time zones.

    group workshops

Workshops are developed around the specific needs and context of the group and can take place online or in person.

Alongside her psychotherapy practice, Kruti maintains an independent practice as a designer and typographer, with work spanning design, typography and teaching.

Kruti genuinely listens, not just hears you. She gives you the space to work through things at your own pace, while gently challenging you to see perspectives you may not have considered. She knows when to let you talk and when to push a little, and never makes you feel judged or rushed. Therapy with her feels less like a clinical process and more like having a steady person in your corner who genuinely wants to see you grow.

I’m not texting for a session, I just wanted to tell you that there were a bunch of things in the last month that I handled a lot better than I would have before. I could recognise that I’m managing my emotions and feelings a lot better, and it felt good!

Kru has genuinely been a treasure in my personal growth journey. She has helped me understand myself better and make so much progress along the way. What I value most is her empathetic nature, her approach, and the way she creates a space where you feel heard, understood, and never judged. She has been such a gift!
